The Madison County Sheriff’s Office Communications
Center is the Primary 9-1-1 Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) in
Madison County. The Communications Center is a 24 hour, 7 days a week, 365
days a year Operation that is here to Serve and Protect the Citizens of
Madison County. We utilize the State of Ohio MARCS P25 Digital Radio
System for all Public Safety Radio Communications, the West Safety
Services Viper Phone System and the Intellitech Corporation Alert Public
Safety Solutions Responder CAD. All Communications Specialists are APCO
Certified Emergency Medical Dispatchers.
The Communications Specialist’s Responsibilities
Include (however, not limited to):

Answer 6 Landline, Wireless & Text 9-1-1 Lines

Enter Arrest Warrants for all Madison County Courts

Enter Protection Orders for all Madison County Courts

Enter Stolen Items and Missing Persons into LEADS/NCIC

Release Impounded Vehicles

After Hours Bonding Station for Madison County Municipal Court

After Hours Contact for Madison County Job & Family Services

After Hours Contact for Madison County Engineer’s Office

Activate Madison County Outdoor Tornado Warning Sirens

What Should You
Expect from Dialing 9-1-1?

When you dial 9-1-1 in Madison County, the
Communications Specialist will answer: "Madison County 9-1-1, Where is
your Emergency?”

Verify your address or provide the location you
are calling from.

Inform the Communications Specialist of the location where
help is needed.

Wireless callers should provide their cellular
telephone number with the area code.

Remain on the line with the Communications Specialist
until completion of the call.

Follow the instructions of the Communications
Specialist. We are certified Emergency Medical Dispatchers through
APCO International. While you are speaking with the Call-Taker and
answering questions, another Communications Specialist is
simultaneously alerting the Law, Fire or EMS Crews of your Emergency.

If you dial 9-1-1
in error, DO NOT HANG UP! Stay on the line and inform the
Communications Specialist you have dialed in error. If you do hang up,
we have to call you back to see if an emergency exists. We will ask
for your name and current location just for our records. You are not
in trouble!
